Grand Falls, N.B., December 18, 2025 — The latest data released by Statistics Canada on December 11 confirm the strength and adaptability of New Brunswick’s maple syrup industry. The province maintains its position as the second-largest maple syrup producer in Canada, and the third-largest in the world, despite recent climate and economic challenges.
In 2025, maple syrup production in New Brunswick reached 1,160,000 gallons, a decrease of only 4 percent compared to the record 1,206,000 gallons produced in 2024. Economically, the total farm-gate value of maple products stands at 50.5 million dollars in 2025, reflecting a solid and resilient sector following the historic peak of 52.0 million dollars recorded the previous year.
“These results clearly demonstrate the resilience, expertise and innovative capacity of our maple producers. Despite variable weather conditions, New Brunswick’s maple sector continues to grow and plays a key role in the province’s rural and agri-food economy,” said Glenn Somers, President of the New Brunswick Maple Syrup Association.
For interim Executive Director Frédérick Dion, the data confirm a powerful long-term trend: “New Brunswick’s maple industry has grown exponentially over the past 20 years. This growth aligns with the rising global demand for our products. There is still room to expand in an industry that already supports hundreds of direct and indirect jobs, generates tens of millions in economic impact, and does so while protecting forests that might otherwise be destined for intensive harvesting.”
The New Brunswick Maple Syrup Association reaffirms its commitment to supporting the sustainable development of the sector, promoting the exceptional quality of New Brunswick maple syrup, and strengthening the recognition of maple as both a provincial point of pride and an important economic driver.
