The AANB currently administers a total of $3.5 million for its members.

The silviculture program is made possible through the support of the New Brunswick Department of Natural Resources and Energy Development, in collaboration with the New Brunswick Maple Syrup Association (NBSA).
Funding is available to support operational improvements and the growth of maple syrup production on Crown lands as well as in sugar bushes in private woodlots.
Silvicultural interventions mainly aim at thinning and spacing maple groves, for both young and mature trees, as well as cutting and removing diseased, dying or undesirable trees.
The forestry program is now offered for 2025.

Here are some of the key programs offered by the AANB and their relevance to the maple syrup industry.
Agriculture in the Classroom New Brunswick
Through school programs, educational resources, and farm-to-classroom initiatives, this program educates students about local food systems—including maple syrup production. It fosters a greater public appreciation for maple producers and sparks youth interest in agriculture and food.

Environmental Farm Plan (EFP)
The PEF helps maple producers assess and improve their environmental practices. This includes sustainable forest management, erosion control, and water protection—key elements to ensuring the long-term health of your maple grove and surrounding ecosystems.

Farm Talks Care (Mental Health and Safety on the Farm)
Maple syrup production often involves seasonal pressure, long hours, and isolated conditions. This program provides access to mental health and farm safety resources to support producers year-round.

Living Lab - New Brunswick
This collaborative research initiative invites producers to co-develop and test innovative and sustainable practices. Maple syrup farms have a unique opportunity to contribute to research on climate resilience, forest biodiversity, and soil and water conservation in forested agricultural systems.

Workforce Development and Shared Workforce Program
Labor shortages affect many sectors, including maple syrup production. These programs connect producers with trained workers to meet seasonal needs such as tapping, maintenance, and syrup production. We help coordinate shared labor solutions to facilitate recruitment and reduce costs.
